Biographical Information[edit]

Marcos Vasquez has pitched in the minor leagues and the CPBL.

Vasquez was signed by the Atlanta Braves in 1987, and he was 3-5 with a 3.71 ERA for the GCL Braves in his first year. He had a 7-11 record with a 5.35 ERA for the Sumter Braves in 1988, then he improved to 10-10 with a 3.49 ERA in 1989 in Sumter. He tied David Nied and Steve Ziem for 10th in the Braves chain in wins. Vasquez was 6-5 with a 3.81 ERA with the Burlington Braves in 1990, then he was promoted to the high class-A Durham Bulls and had a 3.79 ERA and a 4-2 record there. He was 7-4 with a 2.54 ERA in 14 appearances for the Macon Braves in 1991 (including a no-hitter of the Sumter Flyers) [1], and he also pitched 4 games with a 2.63 ERA for the Bulls.

In 1992, Vasquez improved to 5-0 with a 2.17 ERA for the Bulls, and he reached AA while going 6-4 with a 4.30 ERA with the Greenville Braves. He tied Nap Robinson and Darren Ritter for 6th in the Atlanta farm chain in victories After having a 4-5 record with a 4.61 ERA in Greenville in 1993, Vasquez became a free agent, and he signed with the Cincinnati Reds. He was 8-7 with a 3.50 ERA with the Chattanooga Lookouts in 1994, then he went 7-6 with a 3.68 ERA in 1995. He also pitched 3 games with the AAA Indianapolis Indians.

Vasquez then went to Taiwan and signed with the Uni-President Lions in 1996. As a reliever, Vasquez had a 4.20 ERA in 16 appearances, and he also attended the 1996 CPBL All-Star Game; he allowed a run in 2 innings to get the win. He improved to 7-3 with a 2.92 ERA in 46 appearances in 1997, ranking 5th in ERA (1.03 behind Mike Garcia) and 6th in appearances (6 behind Danilo León). He left the Lions after the 1997 season, and his professional career ended. [2]

Overall, Vasquez was 70-59 with a 3.72 ERA in 245 games in the minors and 8-4 with 9 saves and a 3.28 ERA in 62 games in the CPBL.
