Marcelo Martinez pitched in the minor leagues and the CPBL.
Martinez pitched 4 games for the Sultanes de Monterrey in 2017, and he recorded a 2.91 ERA in 13 relief outings with the Naranjeros de Hermosillo in the winter. The Kansas City Royals then signed him, and he was 5-3 with a 2.68 ERA for the Burlington Royals in 2018. He led the Appalachian League in wins, ahead of Dilmer Mejía. He also pitched 17 games that winter for Hermosillo, and his ERA was 2.33. Martinez had a 4.23 ERA in 25 starts in 2019, and he collected 6 wins. His ERA was 1.85 in 16 appearances with the Naranjeros in 2020.
The Mexican reached AAA in 2021, and he was 5-7 with a 5.12 ERA for the Omaha Storm Chasers. He also started 7 games with the AA Northwest Arkansas Naturals, but his ERA was 5.08. Martinez struggled again in 2022 as he was 5-6 with a 6.70 ERA, and he had a 4.76 ERA in 5 games in Hermosillo in the winter. He was 1-1 with a 4.29 ERA for the Storm Chasers in 2023, and he went 2-0 with a 3.06 ERA for the Sultanes after leaving the Royals organization. He was 6-2 with a 2.77 ERA for the Aguilas de Mexicali in winter.
The Rakuten Monkeys of the CPBL signed him in 2024, and he was selected into the 2024 CPBL All-Star Game.
