He was drafted again in the 29th round of the 2018 Amateur Draft, but he refused to sign again. Lin finally started his pro career when the Arizona Diamondbacks drafted him in the 14th round of the 2019 Amateur Draft, but he struggled in his rookie year. He only hit .205/.274/.223 for the A- Hillsboro Hops, then the minor leagues were shut down due to the coronavirus in 2020.
The New Taipei native had a .221/.331/.279 batting line with the class-A Visalia Rawhide in 2021, and also played 10 games in AA for the Amarillo Sod Poodles. However, he slumped to .183/.246/.206 with the A+ Hillsboro Hops in 2022, then he requested that the D-Backs release him. The Toronto Blue Jays picked him up, but he still had a terrible .214/.333/.286 batting line in 2023 with A+ Vancouver Canadians. Lin then made it onto Taiwan's 24-man roster for the 2022 Asian Games. [1] He was 0-for-4 against South Korea, and he went 1-for-4 versus China. In the Gold Medal Game, Lin was 0-for-2 against Korea and Taiwan lost with a 0-2 score.[2]
Lin returned to Arizona in 2024, but he didn't get many chances through he hit very well in small samples. He went 3-for-13 in Hillsboro, and he hit .409/.480/.568 in 14 games for the Sod Poodles. He then made it onto Taiwan's roster for the 2024 Premier 12, and he was their starting catcher for nearly every game. He struggled at the plate before the Gold Medal Game, and he went 3-for-24 with a double against Sam Benschoter of the USA in 7 games. In the final, he crushed a game-winning solo home run against Shosei Togo of Japan, and he helped Taiwan win their first championship in the event. [3] The Oakland Athletics signed him with a minor league contract in 2025.
