Biographical Information[edit]

Lucas Rojo made his pro debut in 2012.

Rojo signed with the Philadelphia Phillies in June 2012; the scout was Jesus Mendez. He hit .354/.456/.521 in 18 games for the VSL Phillies that year and fielded .958 at 2B. In the 2013 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers, the teenager sat out the first two games for Brazil but replaced Felipe Burin as the starter at 2B in the finale against host Panama, hitting 7th. He went 0 for 2 against Angel Cuan and made an error before Burin replaced him in the 5th; Brazil won in a 1-0 upset to advance to the 2013 World Baseball Classic. Rojo remained with Brazil for that event.

He was 1 for 3 in the Classic itself, getting his hit off Tao Bu; he backed up Burin at 2B again. In the 2013 season, he batted .260/.340/.453 for the VSL Phillies, finishing 8th in the Venezuelan Summer League with 7 home runs. He fielded .991 at 2B and .930 at 3B. He helped Brazil to a Silver Medal in the 2013 South American Championship. Despite a solid performance in the 2013 minor league campaign, he returned for a third season in the VSL, batting .268/.352/.329 and fielding .917 at the hot corner.

Let go by Philadelphia, he signed with France's Stade Toulousain club for 2015, alongside fellow Brazilians Alan Fanhoni and Burin. He hit .360/.424/.472 with 17 runs and 16 RBI in 23 games, going 7 for 9 in steals. He fielded .914 and also pitched two games with a 4.91 ERA. He was 7th in the French Division I in average (between Jacques Boucheron and Pierrick Lemestre), 9th in slugging (between Kevin Lusson and Bastien Dagneau), 9th in OBP and tied for 6th with 9 errors. In the 2015 South American Championship, his solo homer off Diego Echeverria was the first blow in the semifinals as Brazil moved to the finals; they got the Silver Medal.

He played in 2016 for Brazil's Atibaia club. In the 2017 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers, he started at second base for Brazil, going 3 for 10 with a RBI.
