Lars Liguori has pitched in the US, Australia and Italy and has been on the Norwegian national team.
Liguori was 1-1 with a save and a 3.26 ERA for Oral Roberts University in 2011 and 0-3 with a save and a 2.33 ERA in 2012. A LOOGY, he pitched 19 1/3 innings in 29 games. He turned pro in 2014 with the Brownsville Charros (0-2, Sv, 2.98 in 8 G) and Sioux City Explorers (2-4, 6.36 in 9 G). For the Roswell Invaders in 2015, he was 4-1 with two saves and a 3.99 ERA while hitting .333.
His stops in 2016 included Roswell (2-1, 6.48 in 4 G), the Gary SouthShore RailCats (1-1, 2.60 in 19 G) and Schaumburg Boomers (0-3, 6.19 in 3 G). He improved to 9-4, 3.44 for the 2017 Boomers, tying for 6th in the Frontier League in wins, tying for third in complete games (4) and 10th in ERA. [1] He had a 4-7, 3.52 record for Gary in '18. He spent 2019 with the New Jersey Jackals (1-3, 7.14 in 5 G) and Sussex County Miners (0-1, 5.63 in 1 G) to bring his pro record to 27-32, 4.54
Going overseas, he was 3-0 with a 2.08 ERA in four games for the Melbourne Aces in the 2019-2020 Australian Baseball League, walking only one in 21 2/3 IP. He was 7-2 with a save and a 2.80 ERA for Nettuno in the 2021 Serie A1, whiffing 74 in 54 2/3 IP. He tied for 7th in victories. [2] He was back with them for 2022 but took a break to pitch for Norway in the 2022 European Championship Qualifiers. He lost the opener to Jakub Ižold and Slovakia but then fanned 15 in a complete game 7-2 win over host Serbia. He was third in Ks, behind Sean Fekete and Ižold. [3] He had a 2-7, 3.25 record in Italy that year. [4]
In the 2023 Serie A1, he was 7-3 with a save and a 1.54 ERA, striking out 102 in 76 IP. [5] Pitching again for Norway, at the 2024 European Championship Qualifier, the veteran was 3-for-10 with four walks and a homer (a 3-run shot off Panayot Zhaltov of Bulgaria). He went 0-1 with a 1.42 ERA, losing to Patrick Mitchell of Ireland. He tied Zhaltov and Eoghan McGarry for 7th in the Ireland qualifier in strikeouts (7) and tied Teodor Dimitrov for 7th in IP (6 1/3). [6]
