Biographical Information[edit]

Eoghan McGarry has played in Austria and for the Austrian national team.

McGarry debuted in the 2019 Austrian Baseball League, hitting .276/.358/.293 for the Diving Ducks Wiener Neustadt and going 0-1 with a 8.71 ERA. [1] In 2020, he was at .213/.351/.319 and did not pitch. [2] The next year, he improved to .326/.416/.453 and was 1-0 with a 9.00 ERA. His three triples were one behind leader Tobias Werner. [3]

In the 2021 U18 European Championship, he batted .333/.444/.467 and allowed 5 runs in 3 2/3 IP. [4] In the 2022 Austrian season, he hit .356/.441/.494 with 29 runs in 23 games and went 4-0 with a 6.98 ERA. His 10 doubles tied for second, four behind Ferdinand Obed. [5] The Diving Ducks played in the 2022 Federation Cup; he went 3-for-16 with two runs and two RBI and he allowed one run in five to beat Panayot Zhaltov and the Sofia Blues. [6] He again played in the U18 Euros; he hit .353/.450/.471 with 6 RBI in 7 games and had a 1-0, 1.40 record, beating Ireland. He was 6th in IP (10) and tied for 7th in K (12). [7]

The southpaw had a 6-2, 4.79 record for the 2023 Diving Ducks while batting .325/.389/.463. He tied for 8th in steals (10), tied for second in wins (one behind Kelvis Palma) and was 5th in K (69). [8] In the 2023 European Championship, he backed up Georg Stemmer in right. He debuted against the Czech national team, he batted for Philipp Eckel and singled off Filip Čapka. He was 3-for-8 with 4 walks, 2 runs and 2 RBI in the tourney. [9] In the 2024 European Championship Qualifiers, he was 1-for-1 with a run and two RBI and allowed two runs in six to beat Norway and Alexander Deutsch. His 7 K tied Zhaltov and Lars Liguori for 7th in the Ireland qualifier; Austria won to retain their spot in the Euros. [10]
