Biographical Information[edit]

Georg Stemmer has played for the Austrian national team.

Stemmer debuted for the Vienna Wanderers in the Austrian Baseball League in 2016, going 0 for 12 at age at 15. [1] In '17, he hit .279/.326/.326 in the regular season and .200/.286/.200 in the postseason, followed by .211/.371/.338 in 2018 and .353/.476/.412 in the playoffs that year. [2] He fell to .200/.258/.289 in 2019 but drove in 7 runs in 7 playoff games, batting .250/.300/.464. [3]

In 2000, he hit .259/.337/.353. [4] Making big strides after turning 20 years old, he produced at a .333/.445/.571 clip in 2021, stealing 11 bases in 12 tries while scoring 29 runs in 28 games. He was 10th in the league with five homers. [5] He hit .400/.464/.480 in the 2021 Federations Cup with four steals in six games. He tied Petar Rumora for the most swipes. [6] He made the Austrian squad for the 2021 European Championship, playing fairly regularly in right. He replaced Richard Alzinger in right in the 7th inning of the opener versus Belgium and struck out his first at-bat, against Drew Janssen. He had a big day against Greece; in a 14-13 loss, he went 2 for 4 with a walk, double, three runs and two RBI. His first hit was a double off Jonathan Kountis, an indy league veteran. Stemmer finished the Euros 2-for-10 with a .308 OBP, .300 slugging, 3 runs and 3 RBI. He had five putouts, one assist and one error. [7]
