Biographical Information[edit]

Kun-Wei Lin pitched for the Taiwanese national team and in the CPBL. His brother is CPBL infielder Kun-Han Lin, and his son is CPBL pitcher Kai-Chi Lin.

Lin represented Taiwan and won Silver in the 1985 Asian Championship. He also pitched for Taiwan in the 1985 Intercontinental Cup, 1986 Amateur World Series and 1987 Intercontinental Cup. He relieved four shutout innings against Cuba in the 1986 Amateur World Series, and help Taiwan won Silver in that event. The Wei Chuan Dragons signed Lin when the league was founded in 1990. Lin was selected into the All-Star Game as a rookie, but ended up 1-2 with a terrible 5.97 ERA. The amateur star struggled in pro baseball, as his ERA was never lower than 5 in the first three years of his career. Lin broke out in 1994, when he collected 2 wins with a 2.22 ERA in 10 games. He remained in good condition and recorded a 3.32 ERA over 19 innings in 1995. However, Lin struggled again in 1996, as his ERA rose to 7.15. When he still got a terrible 6.21 ERA in 1997, the Dragons released him. Lin then became a junior high school coach. The DMedia T-Rex signed Lin in 2008. Lin served as pitching coach there for a year, and left the league with the dissolution of the T-Rex.

Overall, Lin was 7-9 with a 5.36 ERA and pitched 220 innings in seven seasons in the CPBL.
