Biographical Information[edit]

Kevin Solórzano debuted for the Ecuadorian national team in the 2022 South American Championship. His first game, he started against host Peru. He walked Rider Zevallos, got Susumu Yoza on a grounder then walked José Salas. Jorge Pastor singled in one run and an error on the play scored another. He retired Juan Casas, walked Jin Ishihara and struck out Daniel Liu to escape further harm and pitched shutout ball in the second and third. Orlando León took over with a 2-2 tie in the 4th. He also started versus Peru in the 3rd/4th place game but struggled, allowing five hits and three runs (all earned) in 1 2/3 IP before León succeeded him and salvaged the day. He tied for the event lead in starts (with Cristian Choque, Ken Ishihara, Jorge Sivirichi and Israel Saldarriaga) and tied Sivirichi and Camilo Ramos for second in walks issued (6), 3 behind Choque.
