Biographical Information[edit]

Kevin Sheary was a star of the 1985 College World Series.

Sheary was taken by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 7th round of the 1982 amateur draft, one round after they took Billy Jo Robidoux and one round before Jim Paciorek; unlike those two, he never made the majors. Sheary was 4-4 for the 1985 Miami Hurricanes in the regular season, after battling injuries, but was taken in the 30th round of the 1985 amateur draft by the St. Louis Cardinals. In the 1985 College World Series, he shone, beating Stanford University in the opener and Oklahoma State University (led by Pete Incaviglia) in another contest. In the finale, he teamed with Ric Raether to beat the University of Texas to give Miami the title. He joined Greg Swindell as the All-Tournament hurlers. The Seattle Mariners selected Kevin in the 25th round of the 1986 amateur draft, the third time he was drafted.

Sheary began his professional career with the independent Miami Marlins in 1987, going 5-3 with a 3.90 ERA. The Montréal Expos signed him and he pitched 19 games for the 1988 Rockford Expos (0-1, 4.50, 43 K in 42 IP) to end his career.
