Biographical Information[edit]
Kevin Escorcia has pitched in the minors, as did his brother Juan Escorcia.
Escorscia was signed by Chicago White Sox scout Marco Paddy in 2013. He was 6-0 with a 1.87 ERA and .183 opponent average for the 2013 DSL White Sox. With the same team in 2014, he had a 4-2, 1.92 record and struck out 73 in 56 1/3 IP. He tied Adolfi Telleria for 6th in the Dominican Summer League in strikeouts. Coming stateside with the 2015 AZL White Sox, he struggled at 2-2, 6.17.
The lefty was the youngest pitcher on the Colombian national team at the 2017 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers in March 2016, about a week and a half younger than Nabil Crismatt. He was not the youngest player on Colombia as outfielder Carlos Vidal was younger. He did not appear in the qualifiers (6 of their 15 hurlers were not used) as the team won a spot in the 2017 World Baseball Classic. He was 1-0 with a save and a 4.07 ERA in 18 games for the 2016 Great Falls Voyagers, striking out 27 in 24 1/3 IP and allowing 15 hits but walking 18. With the Kannapolis Intimidators the next summer, he was 4-4 with a 4.14 ERA in 42 contests, fanning 69 in 50 innings. He improved his control, walking 26.
In the 2017 Bolivarian Games, he was a LOOGY. He faced one batter in each of his two games as Colombia won Gold for the first time since 1973. In the 8th inning against defending champion Panama, he relieved Kendy Batista and got one out, then was replaced by Jhon Romero in a 2-0 win. The teams faced off again in the Gold Medal game and he again entered in the 8th, taking over for Karl Triana with one out and a 6-3 lead. He allowed a hit to cut Colombia's lead to 6-4, then Batista came in and Panama would not score again.
