Kevin Costner
Kevin Michael Costner
- Born January 18, 1955 in Lynwood, CA USA
Biographical Information[edit]
Actor Kevin Costner has starred in four baseball themed movies: Bull Durham (as Crash Davis), Field of Dreams (as Ray Kinsella), For Love of the Game (as pitcher Billy Chapel) and The Upside of Anger (as a retired ballplayer hosting a radio show). The first two are considered among the very best baseball movies ever made.
In 2002, Costner was invited to play in an exhibition game for the minor league Inland Empire 66ers of the California League. He started the game at shortstop and finished up by pitching an inning. On the mound, he faced Seattle Mariners manager Lou Piniella and ended up walking him.
He is part owner of the Lake County Fielders.
He was the special guest of Major League Baseball at the "Field of Dreams Game" in 2021, played in honor of the movie in which he starred, next to the site where it was filmed. In 2025, he dropped in unannounced on the Arizona Diamondbacks in spring training for a commercial photo shoot, hanging out with manager Torey Lovullo and then autographing balls for players.
