Biographical Information[edit]
The son of former Florida Marlins skipper John Boles, Kevin Boles was selected by the Chicago Cubs in the 42nd round of the 1998 amateur draft and signed by scout Joe Housey. Boles hit .206 in only 34 AB for the Williamsport Cubs in 1998 as a reserve catcher. The next season he was a player/coach for the AZL Cubs with a focus upon coaching catchers. Boles did not appear in any games that year.
Boles began managing in 2000 with the GCL Marlins. He was a coach for the GCL Royals in 2002. Boles was the Field Manager of the Fort Myers Miracle of the Florida State League for the 2006 and 2007 seasons. Boles resigned his position with the Fort Myers Miracle and the Minnesota Twins organizations in October 2007, and shortly thereafter, he became skipper of the Greenville Drive in the Boston Red Sox system. Boles took a break from managing in 2020-2021 when he served as the New York Mets Minor League Field Coordinator. Boles left the Mets organization after the 2022 season and spent 2023 managing the Princeton WhistlePigs in the summer collegiate Appalachian League. He then joined the Tampa Bay Rays organization in 2024.
Boles also has some fall and winter coaching experience.
