Julian Dodwell

Outfielder Julian Dodwell is a member of the British Baseball Hall of Fame.

In the 1986 B-Level European Championship, his two-run homer in the ninth propelled the British national team past Finland, 9-8. When Britain played in the 1989 European Championship (their first European Championship in 18 years, he hit .333 with 7 RBI in seven games, tying Rick Soan, Steve Nero and Oscar Marcelino for the team lead in RBI. He had three hits and four RBI in a 8-7 win over Germany. Against the MLB Alumni All-Star team, he was 1 for 3 with a RBI and pitched a shutout 7th (fanning two) in an exhibition contest. He was only 2 for 21 in the 1991 European Championship and allowed two runs in one inning (versus Sweden). 1991 was his last year with the national team.

In 1987, he managed the Southern Tigers to a Scottish Amicable Baseball League title. He also played in Australia that year, a rarity for a British player of his generation; he hit .317 for Blackburn. The next year, he won a batting title with a .529 average and was named the league's best batter. He won the batting title again in '89. He won Independent National League titles with the London Warriors in 1992-1993. He made the British Baseball Hall of Fame in a 2021 class with Maikel Azcuy, Martyn Dutton and J.G. Lee.
