Martyn Dutton
Biographical Information[edit]
Martyn Dutton played for the British national team for several years. He debuted in the 1994 European Championship B-Pool, fanning 11 and allowing one unearned run in six innings in a win over Norway. In the 1996 European Championship B-Pool, he struck out seven but walked six and allowed three runs (one earned) in 4 IP against Austria; he had a no-decision and Britain won.
In the 1997 European Championship, Dutton was 0-1 with 7 walks, 6 hits and 7 runs (6 earned) in 3 2/3 IP, leading Britain in walks. At the plate, he was 4 for 8 with 3 runs. He started in left field for Britain in the 2001 European Championship, hitting .300/.391/.300 with 3 runs and 4 RBI in 7 games.
From 1998-2003, he hit .404/.477/.565 for Britain's Brighton Buccaneers, helping them to a title in 2002. He made the British Baseball Hall of Fame in 2021 in a class with Maikel Azcuy, Julian Dodwell and J.G. Lee.
