Biographical Information[edit]

Shortstop Jordan Lawlar was chosen 6th overall in the 2021 amateur draft, by the Arizona Diamondbacks out of a high school in Dallas, TX. After signing with the D-Backs, he only played 2 games that first season with the ACL Diamondbacks, going 2 for 5 with a double. His season ended early due to a shoulder injury that required surgery.

He had a first full season in the minor leagues in 2022 and it involved a lot of moving as he appeared for four different teams, starting with the Visalia Rawhide of the California League, and then followed by the ACL Diamondbacks Red, then the Hillsboro Hops of the Northwest League, and finally the Amarillo Sod Poodles of the AA Texas League. In all he played a total of 100 games, batting .303/.401/.509. He scored 98 runs, hit 18 doubles, 7 triples and 16 homers, drove in 62 runs, and stole 39 bases while being caught just 6 times in what was an outstanding season by all measures. He was named to play for the National League in the 2022 Futures Game and was named an organizational All-Star. He then played in the Arizona Fall League after the season. He was again named to play in the 2023 Futures Game.

He made his debut with the Diamondbacks on September 7, 2023, starting at shortstop and batting 8th against the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field. He went 1 for 4 in a 6-2 win. To make room for him on the roster, the D-Backs designated veteran Nick Ahmed for assignment.
