Biographical Information[edit]

First baseman Jonathan Rodriguez has played in the St. Louis Cardinals minor league system since 2009 (through 2014). He was taken by the club in the 17th round of the 2009 amateur draft, a couple picks after pitcher Steve Ames.

He began his career with a .309/.421/.436 line in 54 games between the GCL Cardinals and Johnson City Cardinals in his first season. In 2010, he slugged .500 with 12 home runs in 69 games for the Batavia Muckdogs and in 2011, he had 20 home runs and 70 RBI in 118 games for the Quad Cities River Bandits. After an off-year in 2012, he hit .284/.373/.481 with 18 home runs, 72 RBI, 21 stolen bases and 34 doubles in 126 games for the Palm Beach Cardinals, earning a spot on the Florida State League Mid- and Post-Season All-Star teams. He began 2014 with the Springfield Cardinals and was named to the Texas League Mid-Season All-Star squad.
