Biographical Information[edit]
Joe Hindelang was a college coach.
Hindelang was drafted by the New York Yankees in the 37th round of the 1967 amateur draft. He played for the Oneonta Yankees in 1967 and the FIL Yankees that winter. He was released during Spring Training in 1974.
Hindelang was an assistant basketball coach at William Penn Charter School in 1973 and head basketball coach at Malvern Preparatory School in 1974. He was an assistant baseball coach at Temple University in 1976 and University of Tampa in 1977. He was 63-48-1 as head coach of the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science from 1978-1982, guided Lafayette College from 1983-1990 (coaching Jeff Mutis) and then piloted Penn State University from 1991-2004, setting a school record with 389 career wins. He coached David Aardsma and Nate Bump at Penn State. He was 610-555-4 in 27 years as a head coach.
