Biographical Information[edit]
In 1990, Jim Pankovits played for the San Bernardino Pride of the Senior Professional Baseball Association. He played in 25 games and was batting .266 with one home run and 10 RBI when the league folded.
After his playing career, Pankovits was a minor league manager in the Boston Red Sox (1992-1994) and Houston Astros (1995-1999) organizations. He was then the Astros minor league infield coordinator, then minor league defense coordinator through 2005. In 2006 he became the manager of the Salem Avalanche. Pankovits was the Seattle Mariners' minor league infield coordinator in 2014-2016 and a coach for the Modesto Nuts in 2017.
Pankovits was 1 for 3 as the cleanup man for Richmond, VA in the finale of the 1968 Little League World Series; the US lost to Japan, 1-0.
His father Vince Pankovits was a minor league player and manager.
