Biographical Information[edit]

Jesús Reina pitched one game in AAA, the highest level he reached.

Reina pitched for the DSL Giants in 2002. In 2003, he was with the AZL Giants (1-1, 3.38) and the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes (0-1, 9.82 in 3 G). He struck out 24 in 19 2/3 IP and walked 15. For the Leones del Caracas that winter, he had one save but allowed 5 earned runs in 4 IP. With the '04 Volcanoes, he had a 2-6, 5.40 record, with 55 K in 56 2/3 IP. He tied for 5th in the Northwest League in losses and tied for 8th with 8 wild pitches.

The Valencia native was 5-1 with a 3.08 ERA for the 2004-2005 Leones. He tied Renny Duarte, Willie Eyre, Mauro Zarate, Rick Guttormson and Adrian Hernandez for 6th in the Venezuelan League in wins and was named Rookie of the Year. His ERA was 9.24 in the postseason, though. In the summer of 2005, he was 2-4 with a 5.16 ERA for the San Jose Giants (72 K, 42 BB in 68 IP) and allowed 3 runs in 4 1/3 IP in a start for the Fresno Grizzlies. He was 5-4 with a 5.94 ERA and 1.70 WHIP for San Jose in 2006. He resurfaced briefly with the 2008-2009 Tiburones de La Guaira (0-1, 3 H, 3 BB, 4 R in 2 IP) to end his career.
