Biographical Information

Often confused with his contemporary with the same name, pitcher Jeff D'Amico played seven games in the majors with the Kansas City Royals.

Originally an infielder, D'Amico was selected by the Oakland Athletics in the second round of the 1993 amateur draft and signed for a $200,000 bonus, passing up scholarships to Stanford University and UCLA. He made his pro debut that summer with the Southern Oregon A's, hitting .263 in 33 games. Following a series of injuries, he was converted to pitching in 1996. In July 1999, he was traded along with Brad Rigby and Blake Stein to the Royals for Kevin Appier.

D'Amico reached the majors for a month in the middle of the 2000 campaign. He made his big league debut on June 3rd, throwing a scoreless inning of relief against the Pittsburgh Pirates, and two days later, he hurled two scoreless frames versus the St. Louis Cardinals. He made his only big league start on June 18th, facing the A's, but gave up eight earned runs in two innings to take the loss. He was 0-1 with a 9.22 ERA in 7 outings for Kansas City and was back in the minors by the All-Star break.

D'Amico later pitched in the Philadelphia Phillies, Cleveland Indians, and Cincinnati Reds chains but was out of baseball after 2002.
