Biographical Information[edit]

Jasvir Rakkar pitched in the minors and won a Pan American Games Gold Medal.

Rakkar allowed 23 runs in 15 innings as a college freshman. He was 2-0 with a save and a 3.70 ERA as a sophomore and 6-2 with 3 saves and a 3.68 ERA as a junior. Stony Brook became the first America East Conference team to reach a College World Series Regional; in the finale of their 2012 CWS Regionals, Rakkar got the win over the University of Central Florida in just the 4th start of his collegiate career. Stony Brook went on to play in the 2012 College World Series.

The Chicago Cubs took him in the 26th round of the 2012 amateur draft; the scout was John Ceprini. The right-hander had a save and a 2.70 ERA in 7 games for the 2012 AZL Cubs. In 2013, he went 4-1 with a save and a 3.58 ERA in 20 games for the Boise Hawks, with a 1.09 WHIP and 41 K in 37 2/3 IP. He bounced between four Cubs affiliates in 2014, appearing for Boise (0-1, 8.16 in 7 G), the Kane County Cougars (3-1, Sv, 0.89 in 12 G), Daytona Cubs (3 R in 6 IP) and Iowa Cubs (0 R in 1 IP). For the season, he was 3-2 with a save and a 3.89 ERA in 25 games.

The Ontario native began 2015 with the South Bend Cubs (2.35 ERA in 3 G) then was promoted to the Myrtle Beach Pelicans, where he became a closer. He was a late addition to Team Canada for the 2015 Pan American Games. He pitched two innings, allowing four hits and striking out one but allowing no runs as Canada won the Gold Medal, becoming the second country to win multiple baseball Golds at the Pan Ams (Cuba had also won more than one).

He last played professionally in 2016.
