Biographical Information[edit]

The son of Hall of Famer Rollie Fingers, grandson of George Fingers and nephew of Gordon Fingers, Jason Fingers pitched in the minor leagues like much of his family.

He graduated from Torrey Pines High School (San Diego, CA) in 1997 and from Central Arizona Junior College in 1999. He attended Arizona State University in 1999-2000. He was 2-1 with a 3.63 ERA and one save in 20 games in 2000, 4th in ERA on the #12 team in NCAA Division I. He was selected in the 10th round of the 2000 amateur draft by the Kansas City Royals.

He went 1-2 with 2 saves with a 3.68 ERA in 18 games (29 1/3 IP) for the Spokane Indians in 2000. He was with the Burlington Bees in 2001 and went 1-6 with 4 saves and a 3.71 ERA in 33 games (43 1/3 IP). He was selected to play in the Midwest League All-Star Game that year.

Fingers missed the entire 2002 season after undergoing right shoulder surgery. He returned briefly with the AZL Royals in 2003.
