Biographical Information[edit]

Jamie Wilson was born in Canada and moved to New Zealand as a child. He returned to Canada in his early 20s and played for the Edmonton Blackhawks and Okotoks Dawgs. He pitched one game for New Zealand in the 2013 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers. He relieved John Holdzkom in the 3rd inning against the Philippines with a 3-1 lead and got credit for a hold, working 4 2/3 innings and allowing 6 hits and one run while fanning four. Nick Dawson replaced him in the 8th with New Zealand now ahead 10-2.

He managed the New Zealand in the U15 Oceania Championship in 2014. He then pitched for New Zealand in the 2017 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers, his 4 2/3 IP second on the team behind Scott Cone's 5 1/3. In the opener against South Africa, he replaced Blair Johnstone in the 6th with one on, one out and a 4-0 deficit. He worked 2 2/3 shutout innings before turning the ball over to Randy Yard, who had been on his staff in the 2014 U15 Oceania Championship; New Zealand lost, 7-1. He also faced South Africa in his other outing. He relieved Jimmy Boyce in the 8th with a 8-2 deficit and got four of the next five hitters, though four of them had US minor league experience. Allan Randall singled and Wilson fanned minor leaguer Rowan Ebersohn, then Keegan Swanepoel singled. Kyron Bibis reached on catcher's interference. He walked Gift Ngoepe to force in a run. He then retired Anthony Phillips.
