Biographical Information[edit]

Jairo Aparicio has pitched for the Salvadoran national team.

Aparicio was 0-1 with a 11.45 ERA as a sophomore at Morton College after not pitching as a freshman. [1] He allowed six hits, four walks and five runs (four earned) in 3 1/3 IP in the 2017 Bolivarian Games, losing to Venezuela. He tied Nelson Alfaro for the team's worst ERA but was still better than four Peruvian hurlers. [2]

In the 2017 Central American Games, he surprisingly outdueled former Red Sox farmhand Luis Ramos and powerful Panama. Over seven innings, he carried a 5-1 lead before allowing a run in the 8th and retiring none that frame; Héctor Martínez took over. Aparicio allowed six hits and four walks while striking out two. Unfortunately, he did not get the win as his bullpen failed to hold on to it. Only Jhonny Bautista and William Ponce had better ERAs for El Salvador in those Games, a big turnaround for Aparicio from the Bolivarian Games. [3]

Transferring to Mid-America Christian University, he joined fellow Salvadoran Bernardo Moreno. He was 3-0 with a save and a 3.93 ERA in 2018, then was redshirted as a senior. [4] He allowed three runs in four innings as a redshirt senior in 2020. Returning as a graduate student, he had a 3-3, 6.51 record in 2021 with 39 K and 26 BB in 27 2/3 IP.
