Biographical Information

Jacque Jones won a bronze medal for the United States at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.

He is the only person named "Jacque" to ever play major league baseball although Ron Piché and Damian Jackson both had the more conventionally-spelled "Jacques" as a middle name.

He hit his first career grand slam on July 12, 2001. He also hit a solo shot in that game. Torii Hunter and Corey Koskie also hit two home runs apiece in the game, making it the 15th time in major league history that three teammates hit two home runs each in a single game.

Jones turned to coaching with the Fort Wayne TinCaps in 2012 and San Antonio Missions in 2013. In his first year of eligibility for the Hall of Fame in 2014, he received a single vote and dropped off the ballot. In 2014 he moved up the minor league coaching ladder with the Padres moving onto the AAA El Paso Chihuahuas before resigning in mid-season. In 2016, he was appointed assistant hitting coach of the Washington Nationals and stayed until the end of the 2017 season.

In March 2019, a court in San Diego found him liable in a case of revenge porn, in which he had distributed naked photos of his former girlfriend as a way of getting back at her. He was ordered to pay $67,000 in damages. the case had been field in October, 2017 and had led to his suspension as a Nationals coach, and to his not being hired by any team in 2018.
