Biographical Information[edit]

Ja-wook Koo has played in the Korea Baseball Organization.

Koo played for South Korea when they won Silver in the 2011 Asian Junior Championship. The Samsung Lions took him in the second round of the 2012 KBO draft. He was on the South Korean national team that took the Silver at the 2013 East Asian Games. He made his KBO debut in 2015 in a big way, hitting .349/.417/.534 with 33 doubles, 5 triples, 17 steals in 24 tries and 97 runs. He was third in the league in average (after Eric Thames and Han-joon Yoo), 10th in runs (between Keun-woo Jeong and Hae-min Park), tied Hyung-woo Choi for 10th in doubles, tied for 6th in triples and ranked 10th in OBP (between Min-ho Kang and Andy Marte). He won the KBO Rookie of the Year with 60 of 100 votes; Ha-seong Kim had 34 and Moo-keun Cho 6.
