Ivan Montane pitched in the minor leagues and the CPBL.
Montane was drafted by the Seattle Mariners in the 9th round of the 1992 Amateur Draft, and he was 1-3 with a 5.67 ERA for the AZL Mariners in his first year. He was 5-4 with a 3.93 ERA for the Bellingham Mariners in 1993, then he went 8-9 with a 3.85 ERA for the Appleton Foxes in 1994. Montane had a 5-5 record with a 5.63 ERA for the Riverside Pilots in 1995, then he improved to 2-2 with a 3.64 ERA for the Lancaster JetHawks in 1996. He also pitched 18 games for the Port City Roosters, but his ERA was 5.20 with a 3-8 record.
In 1997, Montane slumped to 1-2 with a 5.29 ERA in Lancaster, and he also struggled with the Memphis Chicks as he was 0-8 with a 7.58 ERA. He missed nearly the entire 1998 season, and he was moved to the bullpen in 1999. Montane had a 0.71 ERA in 10 appearances with 3 saves for the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, and he notched 10 saves with a 2.47 ERA in 41 games for the New Haven Ravens. His ERA was 7.45 in 26 games for the Ravens in 2000, and he had a 5.92 ERA in 16 games with the Tacoma Rainers.
Montane became a free agent after the 2000 season, and he signed with the New York Mets. He recorded a 2.97 ERA in 21 appearances for the Binghamton Mets, and he went 1-4 with a 5.14 ERA for the Norfolk Tides. He then went to Mexico for 2 years, but he struggled there. Montane allowed 5 runs in 4 innings for the Cancun Langosteros in 2002, and his ERA was 10.13 in 3 games for the Cordoba Cafeteros. The Macoto Cobras of Taiwan then signed him, and Montane had a 3.09 ERA in 6 games. He had a 2.21 ERA in 8 games for the Atlantic City Surf, then he announced his retirement.
