Biographical Information[edit]

Isao Imakurusu played in the Nippon Pro Baseball for 7 years. His brother Sunao Imakurusu also played in NPB.

Imakurusu joined the Mainichi Orions in 1950, and he hit .252/.320/.306 that season. He was 1-for-9 in the 1950 Nippon Series, and he won his only title as the Orions beat the Shochiku Robins in 6 games. Imakurusu hit .200/.291/.251 in 1951, and he jumped to the Kintetsu Buffaloes. He recorded a .213/.319/.240 batting line in 1952, and he struggled again in 1953 as his batting line was .162/.321/.162 in 1954. Imakurusu bounced back in 1955, and he played 30 games with a .280/.357/.320 batting line. However, he slumped to .183/.234/.231 in 1956 and announced his retirement after that season. He later coached the Buffaloes from 1965 to 1969, and he was a scout for them from 1970 to 1983.

Overall, Imakurusu hit .211/.305/.249 with 172 hits in 7 seasons in the NPB.
