Biographical Information[edit]
Hyung-sik Park is the brother of Hyun-myung Park.
He served in the South Korean Army during the Korean War. He played for the South Korean national team in the 1954 Asian Championship (winning Bronze in the first Asian Championship), 1955 Asian Championship (Bronze), 1959 Asian Championship (Silver), 1962 Asian Championship (Silver), 1963 Asian Championship (Gold; their first title - he homered in the finals) and 1965 Asian Championship (Silver). He hit 112 homers in his career, when homers were scarce, and also hit for contact very well. He was the first manager of the Sammi Superstars when they were founded in 1982, the first KBO season. He later served as the KBO umpire supervisor (1984-1989) and managed in the minors for the LG Twins (1991).
