Biographical Information[edit]
Hyun-myung Park was the first Korean to play baseball overseas; he is the brother of early Korean baseball star Hyung-sik Park. [1]
He was born in what is now North Korea, then under Japanese control. He was the ace of Zen-Keijo in the industrial leagues then was signed by the Osaka Tigers. [2] He was a batting practice pitcher in 1938. [3] He started two games in 1939 and allowed 12 hits in 8 1/3 IP but only one run, fanning two, and going 0-1. He then was sidelined by injury and returned to Japanese-controlled Korea. [4]
