Biographical Information[edit]
Hitoshi Kondo has pitched for OJI in the industrial leagues. He pitched two games for the Japanese national team in the 2015 Asian Championship. In the opener against China, he relieved Junichi Katayama in the 7th with a two-hitter in place and a 12-0 lead. Needing to allow two or fewer runs for a mercy rule win, he went 1-2-3, retiring Yi Lu, Ning Li and Chuang Na. In his other outing, though, he replaced Katayama with a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the 9th against South Korea. He allowed a single to Woo-sung Lee but retired Sei-hyok Park and struck out Won-seok Lee. Needing one more out, he served up a two-run game-losing homer to Ju-suk Ha. South Korea would wind up with the Gold and Japan would also lose its next game to finish with a Bronze.
