Biographical Information

Joo-suk Ha has been an infielder in the Korea Baseball Organization.

He hit .688 to lead Shinil High School to a national title. In the 2010 World Junior Championship, he batted .174/.296/.304 but drove in a team-high 7 runs in seven games. He helped South Korea win a Bronze Medal in the 2011 Asian Junior Championship. The Hanwha Eagles took him in the first round of the 2012 KBO draft but he struggled in his pro debut in 2012 (.173/.228/.205, 1 HR in 141 PA, 70 G, 50 K in 127 AB). The teenager was 1 for 11 in 2013.

He was demoted to the Sangmu Baseball Team in the Korean Futures League in 2014-2015. In 2015, he was named MVP of the Futures Game (the minor league All-Star game) as part of an impressive campaign (after 88 games, he was hitting .366/.425/.552 with 81 runs). He made the South Korean national team for the 2015 Asian Championship, going 4 for 15 with two walks, a hit-by-pitch, six runs and two RBI in five games while playing error-free defense for the Koreans, who swept the field. His best game was the one he did not start. Replacing Sun-jin Oh at third base late against five-time defending champion Japan, he came to bat for the first time in a high-drama situation: bottom of the 9th, two outs, down 1-0, with Woo-sung Lee on first. He promptly took Hitoshi Kondo deep for the game-ending, game-winning, come-from-behind hit. He was named tourney MVP, largely on the basis of that blow.
