Biographical Information[edit]

Hisao Arakane has played in Nippon Pro Baseball and for the Japanese national team.

Arakane was drafted by the Fukuoka Daiei Hawks in the fifth round of the 2000 NPB draft. He spent the first two years mainly in the NPB Farm Leagues, only having 2 appearances combined in the higher Pacific League. He also represented Japan in the 2002 Asian Games. Arakane only played 23 games in 2003 with a .174/.174/.217 batting line. When Arihito Muramatsu left the team, Arakane was named the main 4th outfielder. He recorded a .213/.306/.348 batting line in 74 games in 2004, then hit .224/.321/.327 in 72 games in 2005. However, his poor hitting made him lose the competition with prospect Hitoshi Tamura in 2006, and he only played 108 games combined in the next four years. The Hawks then traded him with Keisuke Kaneko to the Orix Buffaloes for Takehito Kanazawa after the 2009 season. Arakane had a career-high 175 at-bats with a .269/.348/.423 line in 2010, but he slumped to .205/.283/.337 in 2011. He only played 3 more games in 2012, then announced his retirement after the 2012 season.

Overall, Arakane had hit .230/.30/.354 in 11 seasons in NPB.
