Biographical Information[edit]

Hao-Ming Hsu played in the CPBL for 8 years.

Hsu represented Taiwan in the 1994 World Junior Championship. He was signed by the Brother Elephants in 1999, and he hit .259/.286/.311 in his rookie year. He then recorded a .256/.320/.313 batting line in 2000, and he improved to .305/.359/.344 in 2001. Had he qualified, he would have tied Chuan-Chia Wang for 4th in batting. In the 2001 Taiwan Series, Hsu was 2-for-13 and he won his first title as the Elephants beat the Uni-President Lions in 7 games.

He batted .278/.336/.304 in 2002, but he then slumped to .157/.216/.176 in 2003. He was 0-for-2 in the 2003 Taiwan Series, and he won another title as the Elephants beat the Bulls in 6 games. Hsu only got 78 at-bats in 2004, and he hit .247/.295/.305 in 2005. He mainly stayed in the minor league in 2006, then he announced his retirement. Hsu was the assistant batting coach of the CTBC Brothers from 2018 to 2019, and he became their batting coach in 2020. He started to coach their minor league team in 2021.

Overall, Hsu had hit .253/.306/.294 with 234 hits and 28 doubles in 8 seasons in the CPBL.
