Biographical Information[edit]

Hae-myoung Choi played in the Korea Baseball Organization for 5 years.

Choi played for the South Korean national team in the 1986 Amateur World Series, 1987 Asian Championship, 1987 Intercontinental Cup, 1988 Baseball World Cup and 1988 Olympics. In the 1988 Cup, he hit .289/.413/.342 with 8 walks and 8 RBI in 11 games, fielding .960 at 2B. The Samsung Lions selected him in the first round of the 1989 KBO draft, and he hit .276/.333/.356 in 68 games in his first season. Choi recorded a .272/.333/.392 batting line in 1990, and he played 42 games with a .250/.339/.313 batting line in 1991. The Lions then traded him with Hyun-taek Lee to the Ssangbangwool Raiders for Jong-chul Park, Ki-wan Kim and Chang-won Lee, and Choi hit .240/.353/.308 in the 1992 season. He went 0-for-2 in 1993, then he announced his retirement. Choi later became an assistant coach of Yonsei University from 1994 to 2009, and he coached Ulsan Technical High School from 2010 to 2013. He was the minor league fielding coach of the Doosan Bears from 2014 to 2017, and he became their big club pitching coach on May 23, 2017. Choi returned to their minor league team from 2018 to 2020.

Overall, Choi hit .260/.339/.343 with 141 hits and 3 homers in 5 seasons in the KBO.
