Biographical Information[edit]
Jong-chul Park was signed by the Ssangbangwool Raiders in 1990, and he was their closer in the minor league in his first season. He then had a 5.03 ERA in 22 appearances in 1991, and he was traded with Ki-wan Kim and Chang-won Lee to the Samsung Lions for Hae-myoung Choi and Hyun-taek Lee. Park only pitched 5 games combined for Samsung's big club, and he announced his retirement after the 1996 season. He has been an umpire in the Korea Baseball Organization since 1998, and he also worked the 2015 Premier 12 and 2023 World Baseball Classic. His son Dong-hyuk Park played for the Kiwoom Heroes in the minors.
