Biographical Information[edit]
Pitcher Greg Peavey began his professional career in 2011.
He was originally drafted by the New York Yankees in the 24th round of the 2007 amateur draft, but opted not to sign. He was then taken by the Houston Astros in the 32nd round of the 2009 amateur draft, but again he did not sign. He did ink a contract after the New York Mets took him in the sixth round of the 2010 amateur draft. The scout was Jim Reeves.
Skipping past the rookie leagues, he went straight to A ball to start his career and finished at 11-6 with a 3.48 ERA in 137 innings between the Savannah Sand Gnats and St. Lucie Mets his first pro season. He was a South Atlantic League Mid-Season All-Star that year. He struggled to a 5.06 ERA the next season and a 4.80 mark in 2013 (being used primarily in relief) before winning 12 games between the Binghamton Mets and Triple-A Las Vegas 51s in 2014. In his first taste of Triple-A, he was 1-5 with a 11.62 ERA in six starts; that bumped his season ERA to 4.64. Taken by the Minnesota Twins in the AAA portion of the 2014 Rule V Draft, Peavey began 2015 at Double-A.
