Gerardo Toyo
Gerardo Toyo was the left fielder for the Cuban national team that won the 1939 Amateur World Series, hitting .333. He tied Sam Garth for the tournament lead in hits and tied Alfredo García and Stanley Cayasso for third in average (behind Garth and Ernesto Estévez). His 5 RBI were one shy of leader Bernardo Cuervo. [1] He had a very brief pro career, going 1 for 12 with a run for Almendares in 1939-1940. [2]
