Biographical Information

Sam Garth was a member of the Nicaraguan national team. Debuting as their right fielder in the 1938 Central American and Caribbean Games, he hit .267/?/.267 while manning right field for Nicaragua, which won the Bronze Medal. He batted .500/~.591/.667 in the 1939 Amateur World Series; in center field, he had 11 putouts, one assist and no errors. He led the event in average and tied Gerardo Toyo for the most hits (9). He helped Nicaragua win the Silver Medal. He died at a young age. He was voted into the Nicaraguan Sports Hall of Fame in March 1996.
