Biographical Information[edit]

Sam Garth was a member of the Nicaraguan national team. Debuting as their right fielder in the 1938 Central American and Caribbean Games, he hit .267/?/.267 while manning right field for Nicaragua, which won the Bronze Medal. [1] He batted .500/~.591/.667 in the 1939 Amateur World Series; in center field, he had 11 putouts, one assist and no errors. [2] He led the event in average and tied Gerardo Toyo for the most hits (9). He helped Nicaragua win the Silver Medal. [3] He died at a young age. He was voted into the Nicaraguan Sports Hall of Fame in March 1996. [4]
