Biographical Information[edit]

Gerald Ogando has pitched in the minors and for the Dominican national team.

Signed initially by the Arizona Diamondbacks, he was 0-3 with a 7.16 ERA for the 2017 DSL Diamondbacks 1. He split the next summer between the Diamondbacks' two Dominican Summer League squads, going a combined 1-1 with a 3.29 ERA. In 2019, he was with the DSL Diamondbacks 1 (1-0, 0 R in 6 IP) and AZL Diamondbacks (3-4, 3.72 in 8 G).

After the 2020 minor league season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, he pitched in 2021 for the Visalia Rawhide (1-1, Sv, 3.86 in 14 G) and Hillsboro Hops (1-0, 2.19 in 8 G). He spent most of 2022 with Hillsboro (1-1, 3.62 in 19 G) and pitched two games for the ACL Diamondbacks Red (0 R in 3 1/3 IP). In '23, he was with Hillsboro (2-1, Sv, 4.25 in 22 G), the Amarillo Sod Poodles (1-2, Sv, 9.82 in 9 G) and ACL Diamondbacks Black (1-0, Sv, 2.45 in 2 G). In the Colombian League that winter, he had a 4.22 ERA in 11 outings for the Vaqueros de Montería.

Going to the independent ranks, he pitched in 2024 for the Lexington Legends (0-2, 4.30 in 11 G) and Charleston Dirty Birds (2-3, 6.50 in 28 G). He was on the Dominican team in the 2024 Premier 12, making three appearances. He replaced Wily Peralta with a scoreless game in the 6th against Cuba, one on and one out. He hit Ariel Martínez and allowed a Yadir Drake single then was relieved by Joely Rodriguez. He walked two of three Taiwanese batters he faced. His last game, versus Japan, he was the 6th of 9 hurlers they employed in a 11-2 loss, allowing a run in one inning on two hits. He got his lone strikeout of the event, Kotaro Kurebayashi. [1]
