Biographical Information[edit]
Gary Vaught has been a longtime coach.
Vaught began his college career at Connors State Junior College, going 305-57 from 1980-1984. They finished 9th in the country in 1984. He was head coach at Kansas State University in 1985-1986 and was named Big Eight Conference Coach of the Year in '85. He coached Oral Roberts University to a 114-66 record from 1987-1989.
Vaught spent time as athletic director for Oklahoma City public schools and football coach at Mounds High School.
Vaught took over the University of Indianapolis in 1995. He took his team to their first Division II College World Series, finishing third in 2000. Through 2009, his record at Indianapolis is 511-345-2. He stepped down after 2018 with a 975-666-2 record. He became head coach of Lake Erie College in 2020.
He helped develop Mark Leiter, Bob Zupcic and Jim Crowell.
