Biographical Information[edit]

Bob Zupcic hit .250/~.331/.370 for Team USA in the summer of 1986. He had the lowest average on the squad. He was with the US for the 1986 Amateur World Series. Zupcic was signed as a 2nd round pick in the 1987 amateur draft by the Boston Red Sox and scout Danny Doyle.

He did not show an overwhelming amount of power in his major league career, with 7 homers in 795 at bats, but 2 of his home runs were grand slams. They both came in 1992 and were against 2 of the top closers of the era. The first was on June 30, against Mike Henneman, and the second came on July 10 against Bobby Thigpen. Both grand slams gave the Red Sox the lead and they won both games.

Zupcic's son, Tyler Zupcic, played at Appalachian State University and spent 6 games with the River City Rascals in 2014.
