Biographical Information[edit]

IF/OF Freddy Flores played in independent leagues baseball from 1997 to 2000. At the same time he was working as an assistant coach for the softball team at Western New Mexico University in exchange for use of the weight room at the school. He worked as an assistant coach from 1998-2001. He became the head coach of the team in 2002 and stayed through 2007. He also coached the softball team at Georgian Court University in 2010-2011.

Flores returned to minor league baseball in 2008 for the first time since 2000, this time as a pitcher. He was inspired by his father to give baseball another chance. Over the next several years, he moved from team to team, sometimes as a player, other times as a coach, sometimes both. He finally retired after the 2016 season. In addition to independent ball, Flores spent the 2013 and 2015 winter seasons with the Melbourne Aces of the Australian Baseball League. Overall, he sported a pitching record of 32-25 with 4 saves and an ERA of 4.64. On the hitting side of the ledger, he had a BA of .262, an OBP of .358, and a slugging percentage of .310.

Flores became a fielding coach with the Lake Elsinore Storm in 2017-2018 and Amarillo Sod Poodles in 2019. He was scheduled to return to Amarillo in 2020 before the season was cancelled due to COVID-19. Flores was a fielding coach for the San Antonio Missions in 2021. Flores was hired as pitching coach for the Kane County Cougars in 2022.
