Team History[edit]
The Amarillo Sox were a team in the independent American Association. They began play in 2011, when the Pensacola Pelicans moved to Amarillo, TX. The name "Amarillo" means yellow in Spanish and the team's mascot is an anthropomorphized yellow sock.
In 2014, they changed their name to the Amarillo Thunderheads.
