Biographical Information[edit]

Fran Stančić-Vidrač has played for the Croatian national team.

He debuted in the 2015 B-Level European Championship; only Antonio Horvatić was younger on Croatia. He backed up Kruno Gojković and RJ Vukovich on the middle infield; his lone game was good as he went 3 for 4 with a steal, walk, run and a RBI while making one error in seven chances. [1] Croatia won to retain a spot in the European Championship.

In the 2016 European Championship, he backed up Vukovich at second base. He went 1 for 3, his hit coming off Phillies minor leaguer Ludovico Coveri. He also pitched one game, relieving Aleksandar Kruhek in the 6th with a 13-1 deficit against France. He struck out Luc Piquet and got Dylan Gleeson on a fly but then got wild. He walked Norbert Jongerius and Maxime Lefevre, both on full counts, then threw a wild pitch while walking Felix Brown on a full count. He plunked Frédéric Hanvi to force in a run and walked Rene Leveret on four pitches to force in another. Bastien Dagneau singled to make it a mercy rule rout, ending the game. [2]

Stančić-Vidrač lost to France in the 2017 U-23 European Championship (0-1, 19.06 in 2 G) and played regularly in the field, hitting .238/.360/.333 and fielding .813. He was 2-for-2 in steal attempts and scored six runs in six games. He tied Gojković for the most runs on Croatia. [3] He hit .222/.348/.556 with two homers, six runs and five RBI in five games in the 2018 U-23 European Championship Qualifiers, allowing two runs (one earned) in 1 2/3 IP. He tied for 3rd in the event in dingers. [4]

He was a regular left fielder for Croatia in the 2019 European Championship, batting .200/.294/.200 and playing error-free ball (10 PO, 1 A). He was lit up on the mound (8 R, 8 ER, 2 H, 5 BB, 2 K in 1 1/3 IP), including a grand slam by Dominik Talir. He did not wind up with Croatia's highest ERA as both Vukovich and Nino Kruhek were higher. [5]
