Biographical Information[edit]
Eui-yoon Jung played in the Korea Baseball Organization for 15 years.
He was the second pick of the LG Twins in the 2005 KBO draft, after Byung-ho Park. He hit .242/.288/.369 in 2005, serving as the team's most-used right fielder as a teenager. He improved to .259/.311/.377 in 2006 and .280/.316/.378 in 2007 but his playing time fell each year. He only hit .192/.292/.205 in 90 plate appearances in 2008. He then fulfilled his military service by joining the Sangmu military team.
Returning to action in 2011, he drew the praise of Kazuhiro Kiyohara, who wondered how he could be a back-up. Jung eked out a .256/.312/.293 line with no homers in 272 plate appearances in '11, though, a regression from his rookie performance six years prior. He batted .283/.324/.395 in 2012. Starting in left for the Twins in 2013, he hit .273/.332/.382. He tied for 7th in triples (5). He was at .264/.328/.399 in 2014.
During 2015, he was traded with Jae-woong Shin and Dong-hoon Shin to the SK Wyverns for Hae-soo Jin, Hoon Lim and Geon-wook Yeo. He had his first double-digit homer season, producing at a .320/.397/.537 clip. In 2016, he had his career season at .311/.347/.510 with 32 doubles, 27 homers and 100 RBI. He tied Jae-gyun Hwang, Seung-yeop Lee and Jae-il Oh for 8th in homers and was 5th with 292 total bases (between Eric Thames and Wilin Rosario). Yoo-seom Han and Jamie Romak took his right field spot in 2017, though, moving him to a part-time DH role; he still contributed a .321/.368/.496 batting line.
The veteran slipped to .272/.335/.465 in 2018 and .282/.342/.447 in 2019. He hit .241/.286/.294 in 2020 then the Wyverns became the SSG Landers and he hit .230/.275/.370 for them in 2021, before being released.
The corner infielder had hit .278/.330/.417 with 119 homers and 563 RBI in 4,454 plate appearances and 1,369 games in the KBO.
