Biographical Information

Emiliano Girón pitched in the minor leagues, South Korea and Taiwan. His brothers are former minor league pitchers Roberto Girón and Isabel Girón

Girón was signed by the Cincinnati Reds in 1994, and he had a 2.22 ERA in 21 games for the Princeton Reds. He then recorded a solid 0.94 ERA in 30 games with the Charleston AlleyCats, and his ERA was 2.30 in 17 games with the Winston-Salem Warthogs in 1995; he wrapped up a combined no-hitter of the Hagerstown Suns, following Cedric Allen and Pete Magre. Girón had a 2.76 ERA in 32 games with the AlleyCats in 1996, but his ERA rose to 7.41 in 12 games for the Warthogs. He then went to the Duluth-Superior Dukes of the Northern League, and his ERA was 2.72 in 39 games in 1997. He improved to a 1.27 ERA in 43 games in 1998.

The Lotte Giants of the KBO then signed him with a $40,000 contract, and he had a 3.30 ERA in 24 appearances in 1999. He got the win in the 1999 Korean Series Game 3, but the Hanwha Eagles still beat the Giants in 5 games. Girón then entered the rotation in 2000, and he was 10-8 with a 5.01 ERA. He tied Mun-seok Chang for 8th in strikeouts with 134. Girón slumped to a 5.48 ERA with a 4-2 record in 2001, and he was released. He then joined the St. Paul Saints in 2002, and he was 1-4 with a 5.11 ERA.

Girón returned to Korea and signed with the Eagles in 2003, and he was 3-3 with a 4.59 ERA. He then came to Taiwan and joined the Sinon Bulls. Girón pitched was 4-2 with a 2.72 ERA in 2004, and he improved to a 1.83 ERA with a 9-4 record in 2005. He tied Jonathan Hurst and Yu-Chieh Shen for 9th in wins, and he ranked 2nd in ERA (0.11 behind En-Yu Lin. However, he was implicated in a game-fixing scandal after this season, and he left the team. It was later proved that he was innocent in the scandal.

Overall, Girón was 22-14 with a 4.64 ERA, struck out 282 and pitched 359 innings in 4 seasons in the KBO. He had a 13-6 record with a 2.12 ERA in 2 seasons in the CPBL.
