Biographical Information[edit]

Edson Piovan has played for the Peruvian national team.

He was born in Venezuela but played in Italy for many years. [1] In the 2016 South American Championship, he hit .316/.480/.368; he had one of Peru's two hits in their semifinal loss to Brazil's Vitor Souza. He also allowed one run in 3 1/3 IP in the round-robin portion, third on Peru behind Ken Ishihara and Diego Uezu. He handled 40 chances error-free and led the event's first basemen in fielding. [2] He also played in the 2017 Bolivarian Games, he was 0 for 9 with a walk and allowed 5 runs (4 earned) in 4 innings, losing to Venezuela. He did tie Edgar Paredes for 4th on the 11-man staff in ERA, though. [3] He allowed 14 hits and 9 runs in 5 1/3 IP for Padova BSC in the 2017 Serie A1 in Italy, making it to Italy's top league.

Piovan was 0-3 with a 10.87 ERA for Settimo in 2021, again returning to Serie A1 (thanks to a big expansion thereof). He hit .292/.339/.327 as one of Settimo's better hitters; one of the others, Williams Wong, would sign a Texas Rangers deal two years later.
