Biographical Information[edit]

Douglas Landaeta played six seasons in the minors.

Landaeta was signed by Oakland A's scouts Julio Franco and Ruben Barradas. He hit .292/.375/.330 for the 2007 DSL Athletics 1 and batted .267/.311/.352 for the 2008 DSL Athletics 2. With the 2009 AZL Athletics, he produced at a .248/.314/.362 clip. In 2010, he hit .293/.334/.375 for the Vancouver Canadians and had nine outfield assists.

Douglas's batting line was .250/.296/.364 for the 2011 Burlington Bees and he had 14 assists in the outfield. He hit .247/.309/.292 for the 2011-2012 Leones del Caracas. In the summer of 2012, he batted .244/.287/.377 with 10 homers for Burlington, now playing mostly 1B. He hit .261/.309/.365 with 187 runs and 165 RBI in 410 minor league games.

Landaeta was with the Venezuelan national team when they won the Silver Medal at the 2013 Bolivarian Games. He hit .259/.333/.296 with five runs and two RBI and fielded .909 in right field. In the 2014 Central American and Caribbean Games, he was 3 for 11 with a double, triple, two RBI and two runs. He came up big against Guatemala; facing potential upset with a 2-2 tie in the 7th, he tripled off Guillermo Valdez to bring in Rafael Rivas and scored on a Rodolfo Cardona hit as Venezuela won 4-2. He was only 1 for 10 with a run in the 2015 Premier 12 (his lone hit came off Dae-eun Rhee) and he had one error in eight chances.

He struggled again in the 2017 Bolivarian Games, going 1 for 14 and again making one error in eight chances. His lone hit was off Davis Romero in a 3-hit, 19-K gem. He was 0 for 2 against El Salvador in a 5-1 Bronze Medal game win before Jhonny Medrano took over.
